Microencapsulation of zinc plating waste using silicone polymers

This paper deals with the treatment of hazardous zinc-bearing waste using hydraulic binders and silicone polymers, aim to allow its safe disposal into landfill. The was solidified in first step then encapsulated polymers. Samples were characterised x-ray fluorescence, diffraction, scanning electron microscopy. effectiveness process evaluated by leaching tests distilled water an acidic environment according Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure. effect porosity pH on release pollutants also studied. Zinc chloride identified as most significant waste. Portland cement did not stabilize them efficiently. two-step decreased, best case, concentration zinc extracts from 12,400 mg/L 38,300 21.9 74 mg/L, respectively, treated complied regulatory requirements for landfills. found a more effective method than microencapsulation binder alone. factor that affects leachability appears be
